Things to Do in Thompson, Georgia

Thompson is the official county seat of McDuffie County, Georgia and is nicknamed “The Camellia City of South,” which is in honor of the thousands of camellia plants located throughout the city. It was founded as a Georgia Railroad depot in 1837. One of the most interesting places to visit in the town dates back beyond the beginnings of Thompson. The Old Rock House is a garrison house that was built in 1785. It is claimed to be one of the oldest documented houses with its original design remaining intact in Georgia.

Today, Thompson is Southern in every way imaginable, with plenty of things to do. The guests of the town are welcomed on the first Saturday of November with a traditional fox hunt during the Belle Meade Hunt.  You can shop for hidden treasure at small shops like Ant Tique and Uncle Junk’s and test out your auctioning skills by calling out a winning bid at Sunset Auctions. Clark’s Hill Lake is a popular destination among nature lovers, with 12,700 acres of property that delivers kayaking, fishing, boating, hunting, archer, camping and bird watching activities.

Local eateries offer authentic southern cuisine, with menu options to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Other festivals can be enjoyed in town, including the annual Blind Willie McTell Blues Festival, which delivers endless fun and shares information about the importance of the area with visitors!

Water spots on ceiling from leaky roof of rental property

We recently had the opportunity to perform a roof replacement in the Thompson, Georgia area for a homeowner.

The tenants of one of the properties owned by the homeowner initially noticed two small water spots and were concerned. They notified the homeowner (who lives out of state in Oregon) of the issue. The homeowner knew that something needed to be done but because he lived far away, he had to find someone he could trust to assess the damage and carry out a plan. He ran a Google search to find a roofing contractor and landed on our site. He was intrigued by our webpage and our positive reviews.

He gave us a call and we quickly set up a time to come inspect the problem. When we got to the property, we determined that the roof would qualify for a full replacement that would be paid for by the insurance company. The homeowner was thrilled to hear this news and requested that we schedule a date to do the job.

We scheduled the project for 10 days out. We quickly removed the old roof and put on 30 plus year architectural shingles for this beautiful home in Thompson, Georgia.

The homeowner was thrilled to hear that the job was complete and was thankful for the peace of mind he had, knowing that we addressed every issue and resolved the roofing problems with long-lasting solutions.
